This is a movie review I wrote about Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows as a sample piece of writing. My editor liked it so much, he decided to publish it.
For those of you who have been hiding under the rock or have managed to avoid all forms of media for the past month or so, you would not have known that the latest Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows has finally hit the theaters. For everyone else(as well as me), we have been eagerly anticipating what critics are calling the best installment yet in the Harry Potter series. As an avid follower of the Harry Potter books, I was dying to see the latest movie. At the first chance I could, I grabbed my boyfriend and went to catch it. At the end of the movie, I was definitely not disappointed. The series have come a far way from the first movie, Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone in 2001. The special effects were stunning, a far cry more realistic from the previous movies. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows is surely the darkest movie yet in the series which got me wondering, is this really a movie about a children's book? So different from the first movie, where we all fell in love with the magic and enchantment of Harry Potter and Hogwarts. Watching the show, I also felt a sense of nostalgia while watching the now familiar characters, Harry, Ron and Hermione. For Harry Potter fans, we have grown up alongside these very same characters for the past ten years. It is amazing watching them act in the first movie, all the way till now. We have the chance to watch these characters develop as individuals throughout the series and it is kind of bittersweet now that the series is coming to an end. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows had me weeping and gasping throughout the show. Having read the book, I knew what was coming next. However nothing quite beats watching it happen right before your eyes. The duration of the movie was a little too long for my liking, but then again it was to be expected given the length of the book. It is hard to imagine that they have already cut the movie into two! Annoying as it is, Warner Bros. have left us with a cliffhanger and now we are all dying to see what happens in the next installation of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. This movie is a must-watch for all Harry Potter fans. For anyone who has never seen the series, it would no doubt be hard for you to understand the film so it is advisable for you to catch up with the previous films in the series first before watching Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.
