Nicolette
My name is Nicolette Soh Junyi but that's a mouthful so most people call me Nic. I hail from the sunny island of Singapore and I have lived here all my life. I am 22 years old this year and I am currently pursuing a degree in Mass Communications at NTU WKWSCI. I am an arts student, an athlete and an aspiring writer. Sounds like a lot to handle? It's not. I am a passionate girl with a zest for life. I believe in grabbing the chances life hands me and living life to the absolute fullest. I picked up fencing at the young age of 12 and after several years of tough training, I made it into the national team. Over the years, fencing has taught me the meaning of sacrifice, endurance, chivalry, sportsmanship and team work. I love what I do and I work to be the best I can be.
As a writer, I enjoy covering human interest stories. I love meeting new people and talking to them as I am a people person. I interact well with people wherever I go. My favorite job so far is my current internship with Beaumont Publishing. They publish Designare Magazine, Designare Homme, Designare Time and Oasis. So far I've written luxury travel articles, product write ups, interviews and more. I enjoy this job as I get to write about a wide range of topics which is challenging and refreshing.
Why write you may ask. Well it's the easiest way for me to express myself. It is a platform for me to share my thoughts and opinions with the world. I hope to connect with as many people as possible through my work, to tell them more about myself and my passions. When I was younger, I thought writing was all about me, what stories or opinions I had that I wanted to share with others. As I matured as an individual, I've learned that writing is never just about yourself. It's really about your readers, what they want or need to know. Learning to be a writer isn't just learning how to write well, you have to know your readers as well. As I continue growing as a writer, I hope to learn how I can best serve my readers and be able to give them what they want or need. I function best using words but I am also familiar with other programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Premier Pro.
